It started with a small decision that didn’t feel like one that would haunt me.
A phone hung from the wall in the main building’s hallway. I should have slowed down, stopped, picked it up, and called her. She would have been busy getting ready to rush into the city with the rest of Sydney’s office workers, but I could have told her I loved her, one last time and heard her say it back.
But I didn’t.
